Stephon Edwards Jones, 33, has been charged with the murder of 20-year-old Hyattsville Darrion Herring in a shooting in the food court of the Mall at Prince George’s, according to police.

Officers from the Prince George’s County Police Department responded to the mall in the 3500 block of East-West Highway on Thursday, Aug. 18, where Jones allegedly got into an argument with Herring, at which point he shot him.

Officers found Herring in the food court at the mall with gunshot wounds, where he was pronounced dead. Jones has been at large since the shooting.

Prince George’s County Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $25,000, and the US Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force has put up $15,000 for any information that leads to Jones’ arrest for a total combined reward of $40,000.

“Stephon Jones should be considered armed and dangerous and will be apprehended hopefully before he harms anyone else,” Johnny Hughes of the US Marshals in the District of Maryland said. “Our Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force is actively working to arrest Jones for this murder.”

Investigators noted that since the murder, Jones may have changed his hairstyle.

Anyone with information regarding Jones or his whereabouts has been asked to contact the Prince George’s County Police Department by calling (301) 516-2512 or Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).

“We are grateful for the partnership with CARFTF in our joint effort to arrest Jones,” Prince George’s County Police Bureau of Investigation and Forensic Sciences

Deputy Chief Felipe Ordono added. "Together, we hope to be able to soon tell the victim’s family that Jones is in custody,”
